why coolant sysem is under extreme pressure and leaks after thermostat replacement
replaced water pump and thermostat on Durango. Now it leaks coolant from everywhere especially the thermostat housing, truck sputters. and stops. A lot of pressure in lower coolant hose and none in the upper coolant hose
I think you need to start at the beginning again in the repair. 1 )Empty all the antifreeze from the car. Remove the thermostat and make sure it was installed in the correct position. I would just purchase a new at this point. 3) flush the entire system with a good system flush two times. Install all the parts and refill the system, MAKE SURTE YOU BLEED THE AIR OUT.
Check your spark plugs. A very clean plug or one covered with a white residue indicates a blown head gasket. A blown gasket will push compression into your cooling system and blow out your coolant.
