I have a 2013 Camaro it has 47k miles. Service
dept. (Chevrolet) is telling me that the starter bolts
backed out & one of the bolts cracked the block. Of
course the warranty expired a little over 2 wks.
ago. What is your opinion on this? Any and all

That's a new for me, it's usually the starter bolts breaking off in the block, not the bolts breaking the block. I would have to see it too believe it.
That's exactly what I said after doing a little research. I'm a female, they must think I'm crazy. The starter is attached to the bell housing? Right r wrong. I really need and appreciate your help. Maybe u can school me so that I look like I know what I'm talking about when I go there this morning. :)
What engine are you running so it can get you right information.
All I know is that it's a V8 with a 6 speed transmission. If this is not what you are asking for let me know so I can try and get the correct info. Thanks for trying to help me
ta4al, Chevy starters are bolted to the engine block. tennisshoes will see what he can find.
I would recommend getting a second opinion. Is the vehicle torn apart?
I'm afraid it is tore down. I don't know what to do. This is something that I didn't need right now.
That's right it is bolted to the block, normal Chevrolet mounting, I just can't imagine it breaking the block in that area the bolts usually shear off if anything is amiss in that area.
Only two weeks out of warranty, won't they do anything for you, this had to have been happening for more than two weeks.
That was my response when he told me that the warranty had expired. Dang thing didn't back out over night. Do you think that this problem could be linked in anyway to running in Alabama highway pot holed? That is something that just popped in my head. But that's not saying much considering that I know nothing about working on a car.
Just did a quick search, and there is nothing listed as it even being a problem for your car, the NTSB shows no listing for that kind of problem. Not seeing the damage personally I just don't know, unless there was a flaw in the casting of the block.
I has no previous problem with it cranking or anything until this, it just decided not to crank. Do you have any suggestions on what I should approach that when I get there. It sounds like we need to chat on the phone. I really do appreciate you!
Well you could say you would like a customer service rep from GM there or you could contact them directly by phone, the number will be in the owners manual. That would be a good idea for the first thing too do.
