Why does the "liftgate ajar" light when it is raining?
When there is a heavy rain, or consistent rain for a while, the "liftgate ajar"
light on the dashboard comes on. I've tried re-closing the liftgate, but to no
avail. When the indicator light is on, of course, the interior lights come on
since the vehicle "thinks" that a door is open. This is not too much of a
problem while driving in the daytime, but becomes a huge distraction when
driving in the dark. Eventually it goes out on its own once the rain stops for
long enough. I've had it looked at by a Chrysler technician, to no avail. He
couldn't find an electronic error code or anything else that was obviously
amiss. He suggested that it could take hours of searching to find the
problem since it was electronic, and there was no guarantee. Has anyone
else had a similar problem, and better yet - is there a fix?
