What does it mean when the dashboard indicator shows an engine?

if your engine light comes on you will need to get a scan done to find out what is wrong, the car might be running ok but something is wrong. Take care of it now before it costs alot more to repair. hope this helps, best of luck.


i see alot of cars with this, normally right after you get gas. check your gas cap. if it is on nice and tight, take the car and get it scanned. forgot to mention it.


Yes, these Intrepids are known for faulty leak detection pumps in the evaporative emissions systems. This means that the evap system is thinking there is a leak (like from a loose gas cap) when there is not. Suggest taking it to a Dodge dealer that will hook it up to a Miller smoke machine and visually check for leaks in the system. They will read the codes at that time and see if this is the appropriate course of action.
