My car won't go into park anymore
What could be wrong. It caught fire
the same time I couldn't get it to
stillgo into park

Where was the fire? Would it go into park before the fire? -Jim

Yes it was by the battery

I see. Well I don't think the two are related. Check the linkage at the transmission. Unbolt it and see if it'll go into park using the lever that attaches to the linkage. If it will the problem is with the linkage, possibly bent. Do you have column or floor shift? HTH. -Jim
