Kia Optima 2013 Lx Engine Recall

500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My daughter has a 2013 Kia Optima Lx. She
has routinely done oil changes. Had oil
change done at about 85,000 miles, engine
seized around 90,000. Had it towed to a
mechanic, who said there was no oil in the
car. We know about the engine recall for the
car. My question is, when you took it to the
Kia dealership to get inspeceted for the
warranty claim, has anyone run into problems
with not having oil in their car and Kia
denying the claim?

Get some used oil in that engine before taking it to the Kia dealer concerning recall. Lack of oil will destroy any engine. The only way they would allow that is if the recall was due to an oil leak causing the engine failure. But anyway...call 1-800-333-4542 and inquire about recall #SC147 which says they will cover engine failure due to a machining error in the engines bearings. They will ask for your VIN number. Do it right the first time. A new engine is worth about $6000 and they cover it all. Ask for a loaner too.
