Try starting it in neutral then put it in drive, if it dies then chances are that the torque converter is most likely locked up. HTH

What did you find out about your Nissan? I am having the same issue with mine.

Mine did the same. In order to get the car home I started it in neutral then revved the engine to about 2000 rpm and slammed it into drive. It has to be revved up or it will stall. Once it gets moving to about 3 mph it runs and shifts fine. Braking the car to a full stop will cause some bucking and then the engine will stall. I'm thinking the torque converter is locked up. The Jatco transmissions that Nissan uses are notorious for failures. This will be our tenth and last Nissan.

It’s your transmission. Same thing happened to mine. First they said it was a bad battery cell. Took it to Nissan and now it needs a new transmission. The neutral truck only worked for a little til the car wouldn’t turn on one day at all.

Neutral trick

I agree with GuruCY29W......it's the transmission. I have a 2013 Altima S and had to have a new transmission put in January 2017. Now I have a new issue (unrelated to transmission).....the SOAKING wet carpets. I didn't drive the car over the extended 4th of July weekend and actually had mold on the carpet and the windows were all fogged over when I approached the car.
