what weight synthetic motor oil to use in the northeast u.s.?

ive heard anything from 10/30 to 10/60

thank you for the fast response. I've been using mobil-1 and a can of STP. I do get rough with the rpm's

I ran 0w40 Mobil 1 in my 2006 Z4, but it was not an M series. I would keep the STP goop away from this car as all it needs is the proper grade of oil.
