Is a 2001 dodge neon pulley tensioner the same as a 2005 pulley tensioner

Well I wonder why my mechanic say that the pulley tensioner dont fit I mean I got it off another neon

he's an idiot, i assure you they are the same if they came off an 01 neon and an 04 2.0 neon

There are 2 types of tensioner set up's for the 2.0. There is a hydraulic tensioner, which is the early style, and a mechanical tensioner, which is the later style. You can use either but you need to have all of the required parts for that specific set up. Basically there are 2 different tensioner pulley configurations and 2 different mounting brackets.
