Why is my neon running bad?

Asked by Aug 05, 2013 at 10:56 PM about the 2001 Dodge Neon 4 dr Highline ACR

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 neon runs rough when I drive it till
its warm and then shut it off for anywhere
from 5-45 minutes.  It turns up codes
p0132 and p0138.  To me it almost seems
like its flooded and then after I drive for
about 2-3 Minutes it clears up like its burnt
off the extra fuel built up after it sat for a bit.

Code P0132 may mean that the oxygen sensor heater circuit is shorted out. P0138 may mean that you have a faulty O2 sensor, or a short to battery voltage in O2 sensor signal circuit.

No those codes are for the upstream o2 sensor (p0132) and for the downstream o2 sensor (p0138). They indicate that the car is running rich.
