I have a 2012 Kia Rio5 (EX 1.6). My check engine light is on, and it's Sunday. The dealership is closed.
I do my own oil changes, with Mobile 1
Synthetic and BG oil stabilizer. I changed
my oil yesterday, as well as my air filters,
and oil filter. For No good reason, I drained
the oil, took off the old oil filter, and started
the car for about 5 seconds. Could this
have made my check engine light come on
today? What should I do?
Yes it most certainly will. There was no oil pressure at time you started the engine. Hopefully you can just have the light suspended & no harm was done...... If for some reason the light comes back on & it is because of the same reason , you may have to change the oil sending unit or module for that indicator light. Try not to experiment with your large investments, play with Lawnmowers ..... They're Cheaper !!!
Auto Zone will check the light for free & reset it for you...... Play Dumb (or should I say, "Just be yourself"....) & they will take care of it.
Yeah... I was dumb, starting the car. Thank you guys for the help, and honesty! :)
