My 2013 Chevy Malibu is losing power, says engine overspeed or engine reduced speed.

Asked by Aug 21, 2015 at 02:00 AM about the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi. My 2013 Chevy Malibu LTZ is
losing power, I have to jump it for it
to start and it only works decently in
manual. It says engine reduced speed
or engine overspeed. I had it looked at
pep boys, they gave me a code P228.
They said it might be the throttle
position sensor but I bought the part,
had a mechanic install it, nope wasnt
it. He said it may be the fuel pressure
regulator. I don't know what else to
do. Please help...

Take it to your local Chevy Dealer. Unless you have over 36,000 miles on your Malibu you're still covered by the new car warranty (3 years or 36,000 miles). Let them fix it for free. HTH. - Jim

If your warranty expired, take it to a real mechanic- not Pep Boys
