turn signals electrical short

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have 2001 Dodge Dakota, when I engage my turn
signal it doesn't always work. With a little manual
movement of ignition key, it then works. How can I
tackle this problem. Any help much appreciated.

Check the ignition switch, if it is falling apart replace it, if it is loose tighten it and then see if the problem went away. You may also have a little bit of slack in the lock cylinders rack and pinion just due to age and normal wear. If you do they will need to be replaced, not an easy job, so hope that isn't a problem.
