2012 JETTA 2.5L Issues
Hi this is more a question that im looking for some feedback for. First off i have the car above and i have been having issues with it since the -24degrees C weather struck Ontario this winter. In my transmission i can hear something that sounds like a loose metal sleeve bouncing around on an Axel inside the trany and the dealer keeps insisting its normal and does not look at it. any ideas on this one ? also to note the Axel has a little play on the passenger side Axel mount in the trany as well. im sure these are both not normal things and i just wanted to see other peoples thoughts on the matter.
Is your Jetta manual or automatic? Everything dry under there?
Its automatic and aside from where the power steering fluid burped out of my reservoir and where they drooped fluid from the old power steering pump yes its dry.
Any way the noise could be coming from the exhaust, like a tin heat shield? I asked if everything was dry because excessive play at the diffe re ntial will eventually leak.
yea i had that issue with my 98 audi when the bearings got to a certain point. tho with all the power steering fluid its hard to tell anything. And i do belive there is a loose heat shield but thats not the sound i hear. if i raise one wheel off the ground and move the wheel back and forth you can hear the rattling noise same spot from either side and always from inside the trany.
When it's in oark, neutral, or either way? Might be normal. I'd clean the spilled p/s fluid so to make sure nothings leaking.
i can hear the sound even when its in drive park neutral. If i let the engine sit around 1000rpms then do a quick tap to the gas i would hear the loose sound from the trany. so either way its something loose in there not to mention some times i will hear a loud grinding sound. which goes as quick as it comes. normaly that sound is after i sit in park for a minute or just slip it into drive after i turn it on and hit hte gas. Heard it on 2 occasions now.
