Underestimated much?

Asked by Guru29CYZ Feb 20, 2020 at 01:43 PM about the 2013 Ford Mustang V6 Coupe RWD

Question type: Car Customization

So I'm going to give it to the people who say
cyclone V6 mustangs shouldnt be upgraded. 1.
Why do you care? If it's not your car and it's not
your money, dont waste your time trying to tell
other people off about a great car that some of you
are wrong about. 2. The 3.7 cyclone motor, which
was put in I believe 2011 or 2012 (correct me if I'm
wrong), is an amazing engine and handles any sort
of abuse like a tank. The V6's have originally been
known to be dogsh*t because they took the 4.0L
from the explorer and put it into that car, bad
mistake. However, the 3.7 is where you can buy a
car if you dont got the money for a v8 lying around
and you want something new.  Oh and for the
people saying that the V6 is no good against a V8,
I've watched a couple of my friends with the 3.7
put at least 3 car lengths on those without
breaking a sweat (keep in mind they had an ECU
tune and a procharger).  Dont underestimate the
V6, cause you will be surprised.

Yes, the V6 engines can be modifies to run faster than a stock V8, no denying. But for the same amount of money a V8 will go as fast for less money. Once you modify the V6, you will be replacing the brakes, exhaust and drivetrain parts to handle the extra power. Which adds more cost. Most people who post on this site are trying to repair and add HP to go faster on a limited budget. So we caution those individuals not to get in too deep. We don't see many people ask how to add HP to their current vehicles, with no limit to the amount of cash. You are a small minority and I am glad you are enjoying your Mustang. Peace.
