Tailgate

Asked by Jun 07, 2016 at 06:08 AM about the 2012 Honda CR-V EX-L w/ Nav

Question type: General

My neighbor leaves their tailgate up when the
temp gets hot.  They say it cools their black car
down.  We don't live in Florida and they have an
auto start.  Any suggestions on how to
approach this or should I just let it go since
they are 80.

You should be fine, my car is always locked up, get over 100 degrees. I don't want bugs and dust getting inside the car.

I used those little solar window fans when it gets really hot, I put one in front and one in back of our 4 door car, they help in the car but really struggle with our Yukon that is black just too much area too move the air. And yes opening the tailgate does work but it will drop battery voltage if the dome lights are still active. HTH
