Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am getting a left hand seatbelt retractor circuit error.  It is causing the brake light and
abs light to stay on.  Is there a test proceedure for this circuit or a common problem?  I do
not want to just replace the retractor if it isn't that.

It actually could be the retractor after all. It's part of SRS, Supplemental Restraint System. Even though the belt pulls back in and rolls up after you take it off, it is equipped with SRS, which automatically tightens it in a crash to keep you firmly in place. If the BCM detects a fault, you will get that error, the air bag system and ALL other SRS components do a self-diagnostic every time you start you car
