Hello and thanks for your help! I am about to buy a 2012 Outback limited for
$14,900 with 68,000 miles. I am nervous about potential problems, like timing
belt. Or the recalls for that year. It got a clean bill from independent mechanic.
Is there any problem I should expect coming at a certain mileage? I am on a
tight budget. And it seems to be a great deal, right?!

This is a fair price but not a great price. You can and should offer less. It has a clean bill of health and you did your due diligence. All cars have potential problems. If you are very risk adverse you could buy a Toyota instead.

Thanks for your response! I am a terrible bargainer. What would be a better price? He said he would help with the taxes, but seemed non-negotiable.
