New engine or new car
My 2012 outback needs a new engine.
222,000 miles on it. Subaru dealership
said blown engine is due to leaves and
dirt between the 2 radiators. I take it in
for regular maintenance. I don't believe
this overlook is my fault. Where to go
So it overheated? Be it from a blocked radiator from airflow or other issue, you need a new engine. You got 222K out of it, which is pretty good. The car is way out of warranty with mileage and also the age. I would look at replacing the engine at this point. You wouldn't be able to sell it without one, at least for any reasonable price. A 2012 is probably still in nice shape otherwise. Get the suspension updated too and your good to go for another 222K.
A good used engine might be best thing for your car unless you want to keep the car for a long time in which case do as Tom suggests.
I agree with Tom.. especially if the interior and exterior of the car is in excellent condition.... IF, the interior and seats were worn and needed replacing I would probably say goodbye.... BUT, sounds like you have maintained this car well.... And it's probably worth the money to get a replacement engine.... I would look for a remanufactured engine though.... I don't like used engines....you don't have any idea how they were maintained or driven..... could have been abused..
