Looking to buy a 2012 Subaru Outback out of state. Any Advice?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Im finding that used Subarus in Colorado are a hot commodity and selling for
a bit higher. So I found one in So California for a couple thousand less than
ANYTHING I can find locally. Its a fully loaded model 3.6R 6 cylinder
including the touch screen display, sunroof, leather seats, brand new tires
and a carfax that shows 1 owner with service that was like clockwork. Am I
crazy for over thinking this? I think with a one way flight and a couple tanks
of gas, I will still come out ahead on this deal. I plan on seeing if i can take it
to another Subaru dealer to get inspected. Does anyone have any advice for
me?

When it comes to price condition is everything...low miles and all service records... good luck. The 3.6 is supposed to be a great engine, but, it's a gas hog.

Inspection would be excellent... again, ask them to hand you all of the receipts for the service records...if they balk...I would be very cautious.

Mark would you say 130k miles is low or too high for this 2012, in your opinion? (Ive noticed you comment quite a bit on here and might know a bit more than I do about subarus

130 thousand is a lot of miles. Unless you only drive a small amount of miles each year you should find a lower mile car.

so I called the shop where all of the service was done on this car and they said they even got new seals on the oil pan. maybe it was preventative care or maybe it was starting to have some oil leaking problems. Either way thats a nice service to have had done, right? i also see that the front and rear diff fluids were just changed like 9k miles ago. Obviously i know that 130k miles is up there, but dont people always say that subarus last upwards of 200-300k miles? whats typically the life expectancy of a well maintained outback?
