I've bought cars long distance twice. I would suggest using a bank draft. But before we get to that point have the car professionally inspected. Costs around $150. This way you know that you're getting a good car and getting the car that's advertised. I've used lemonsquad.com. Send the bank draft about 1 week ahead of your pick up date. Keep the receipt and be sure the vehicle identification number (VIN) is on the bank draft. This way the draft will have cleared the bank when you go to get the car. Remember that the other party is taking you on faith as well. Fake checks, money orders, and even bank drafts are out there. Now if you're the seller, do NOT release the car or the title until the buyer's bank draft has cleared their bank. Make it clear to the buyer that this is how the transaction will take place. Whether you're the buyer or seller also keep all emails, texts, etc. until the transaction is complete. HTH. -Jim
