2003 Neon 2.0 L sedan,

for a long time this car would not start unless in neutral.  Problem worse when
car parked on an incline,  Now car is not cranking at all.  Battery only 3
months old

If it took having it in neutral to start it, then there is a problem with the neutral safety switch.
