Question type: Maintenance & Repair

iv got a 2003 base dodge neon automatic transmition the code for check
engine says its the pcm thats bad but im just curious to what others think of
this problem as well its popping in and out of drive when i first start the car
when its cold during the summer time it never did it last year this same time
it did the same thing but stopped when it warmed up this year its a lil bit
worse on top of it popping out of drive some times it wont shift out of 2nd or
3rd yesterday it wouldnt go past 30-35 mph when driving through town
other days its just fine minus the popping out of drive till it warms itself up
even if i let the car itself warm up fully it still does it just not nearly as bad i
can pull the ebreak and sit there in drive push the gas a lil and let it pop in
and out of drive till it stops doing it and just keeps trying to pull then i can
leave for work or wereever im going but thats a good 30-45 minute
proccess any comments that could help? OH it does leak some trans fluids
so i know another cause may be that trans isnt holding pressure but didnt
wanna just start throwing away money left and right just yet

well we check the fluid ever 2-3 days and its usualy fine iv had to fill it at most half a quart that was the first time we noticed after that never had to fill much its a small leak but its there it never got to low so im not so sure it would be from low fluid as it never got all that low ya know. still think it could be tho?

year changing the computer was the last thing on my to do list for this cause knowing it works during the summer and not when its cold makes me think its something els all together as well and all the tranny shops around here want like 200-300 bucks to even diagnose it so i really dont wanna do that either :/ i would spend that replacing all the seals and the computer myself at that point just a bout

will do i know i gotta change the filter and the gasket anyway thats were the majority in not all the leak is coming from anyway il try that with it will im at it thanks tennis and tom

How long does it take to replace transmission seal in neon on passenger side where axle goes in I replaced axle and now it leaks trans fluid where axle goes in alot worse then it already was
