What causes the catalytic converters to go out after I had them replaced over a year ago

Asked by GuruBH53D Jan 02, 2019 at 03:57 PM about the 2012 Nissan Titan S Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had my truck at a dealer last year because while driving
the vehicle would just shut off , they told me the reason
was the cats were bad and needed replaced and the cause
of that was the fuel pump mixing the fuel to rich . In just
over a year after getting new cars it started acting up again
. Once again they're telling me I need to get them replaced
again because they are burnt out on the inside . What could
be causing this to keep going on

If you use the 87 octane gas all the time start using the 93 or 94 octane gas had same problem check engine light comes on saying bad oxygen sensors replaced them and light still came back on started using the higher octane gas now it took 10 tank fills and light going off and coming on 4 times but now light is off if you are in a hurry for the light to go off you can try using a converter cleaner like cataclean read some good and bad reviews but mostly positive.

Driving the truck with a misfire is the surest way to ruin those expensive cats.
