oil pressure gauge on 2004 explorer XLT V-8 isn't working.
I have changed the sender but the meter still reads zero. I assume the sensor sends
signal to computer to interpret and then goes to display. Ford mechanic says we need to
replace the entire instrument cluster.
Will an aftermarket gauge work with the standard sensor?
Don't know would have to read the particulars of the guage. However, if the cluster includes the speedometer and you contemplate purchasing one, make sure the speedometer is calibrated before you install it.
