5.9 360 fires but dies when let off key
1984 w150. 5.9 360. fires while cranking. dies
when I let off the key. ran wire from battery to coil
and it runs fine, hot wired a switch in.
new ballist on fire wall. new starter relay on wheel
well. new battery, alt, regulator. any ideas ?
That is usually a bad ignition switch or on some Chrysler products they had a dual ballast resistor and one side would burn out so it would fire while cranking but quit when key was released from crank to run.
ok ill check those. would having it hot wired from spliced into coil power wire to battery make my alt push out too much amps when reved up?
If the key is turned on it shouldn't, it is possible with all that you have done you could have damaged the voltage regulator, believe me it doesn't take much to ruin one.
Well I replaced ignition switch on the column. didn't change anything , and replaced voltage regulator again.
my truck has a single ballist and it is brand new also
Did you check the coil for voltage in both crank and in run postitons?
