Check your Ignition Module. This is a common ailment on the old Rams. I never travel in my 81 without a spare Ignition Module or a Ballast Resister. Take off the module and inspect it. the most obvious sign of failure is the gel coating over the circuits. If its melted (Usually, when it melts, it gets all over the fender), then replace it. If at all possible, if you have one you know is good, plug it in and crank. If not the module, check the ballast resistor. It's the white ceramic box, usually mounted to the firewall. when you remove it, look for cracks in the ceramic, or else a charred or broken spring. It the resistor is cracked or charred, replace it. it should be no more than $10-15 at O'reillys or Autozone. module should be no more than $20

I have a 85 d150 it will run for about 15 to 20 min then just die out. If I let it sit for awhile it will start back up and drive but repeat again could the ignition module be the problem or the carburetor

Hey Guys just solved the mystery of "NO START" and everything ignition related checks out. Check the carburetor. It seems that with successive heating and cooling cycles works the nuts loose that hold it down, then you hit a bump, it get jostled enough to let air sneak by the gasket thereby changing the air/fuel ratio. Have someone spray Ether into the carb as you crank, should start up right away.
