I have a 2004 dodge neon. the check engine light came on, the car started running rough and eratic. then the car shuts down and will not start back up. the vehicle will not even turn the starter over. no clicking or nothing. the vehicle is at home and I have no access to a trouble code scanner. could you please give me some pointers?

2004 dodge neon. the vehicle will not turn over at all after dying out , after the check engine light came on.

Most of the larger chain auto parts stores will loan you an OBD scanner if you leave your drivers license and/or deposit...sounds like maybe your alternator quit charging...have you tried jumping or charging the battery?

check your chassis ground cable from the back of the motor to the chassis
