Please help, just bought a 2012 Ram Big Horn and gas mileage is horrible. I am getting roughly 7.8mpg or 30L/100km. Had it scanned for any hidden error codes, in case it may need a tune up etc.
Scan came back ok. Mechanic said it runs great. Should I bring it to dealer to
make sure all the settings are correct for tire size, gear ratio etc?
on my 2004 Silverado z71 I was getting 17 miles to gallon on highway, I watched 4 wheel drive show one day and they recommended royal purple in rear axle and front as well. I did it and picked up approx. 7 miles more to the gallon. Its about 19$ a quart, my truck took 6 quarts. Its high in synthetics
Make sure that the transmission is upshifting correct and that the torque converter clutch is locking in. Also make sure that it's not in 4 wheel drive all of the time. Those things will kill gas mileage. HTH. -Jim
