Can you run a dodge durango 6 cylinder magnum without the t-stat
Not on a 2004, engine needs to get to operating temp. in order for the closed loop to happen for the computer to be able to adjust air fuel mixture properly, and other sensors to work properly. If you need to run without a thermostat, you may have a plugged radiator, or there are air pockets in the system, or a bad head gasket.
Only in emergency situations, like it stuck closed and you were out in the middle of no where and were able to remove the stat and drive to where you could get another, that would work, but as Rowefast stated the engine management would stay in open loop so engine power would be reduced and fuel mileage would tank and you could even get a check engine light due to low engine temperature. So if you are overheating fix the real problem not just the symptom. Good job there Rowefast.
8 hrs. later, thanks tennisshoes, I'll have to remember that engine management terminology. So right back at you!
