Why won't the remote on fob recognize transmitter in car?
2004 Dodge Durango Slt. I took my fob key to get a new one made because
the remote part does not work. It will open the door and start the car. i wasd
told that it could not be done because the transmitter is not recognizing the
remote. What could cause this?
You may have to have your local Dodge Dealer synchronize the remote to the vehicle. If it's like a GM the system operates on a "rolling code" system. That is each time the remote is used a different code needs to be received by the vehicle. I was able to program the remotes for my Grand Prix and Grand Marquis but Dodge may be different. You might try talking to the vendor who sold you the key. They may be able to give you the instructions on how to program it. HTH. -Jim
I did take it to a locksmith and he told me that the remote was not recognizing the vehicle even after programming it.
Most likely the locksmith didn't program it correctly. I'd recommend talking to your local Dodge Dealer. HTH. -Jim
