No ignition to the starter

Asked by Jul 15, 2017 at 11:41 AM about the 2004 Dodge Dakota 2 Dr SXT Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drove the truck 390 miles home after I bought it from an auction. I made a
couple stops and had a intermittent no crank when I turned the key but then it
cranked and started . I have checked all the fuses. and relays. I jumped the
starter relay with a paper clip and the starter cranked but did not start the
motor I replaced the starter anyway in case it was an intermittent problem. I
also replaced the neutral safety switch (range sensor), ignition switch. and
the computer with a factory set computer to my vin number. The wiring
appears good and doesn't seem to have been tampered with. The key has a
hole in it like maybe a security key Is it possible the security system reset
itself.
