should motor be taken apart and looked over?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Oil light comes on , oil pump locks engine on 2.7L
Charger, oil looks good, haven't took apart
anything but motor is not free, is there a chance of
putting on new pump n freeing up engine?

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. It sounds like the engine is seized up due to lack of lubrication. It's your decision, of course, whether or not to replace the engine. The car is 9 years old. If it's in otherwise good condition and doesn't have a ton of miles on it you may be wise to replace the engine and drive it for a few more years. HTH. -Jim

Yep, Js Is right, if it is seized then the damage is done, it will need a complete overhaul to be brought back.
