Asked by Stephen May 19, 2018 at 03:06 PM about the 2004 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2004 Dakota 4wd 3.7. Radiator fan only works
after bypassing and directly wiring to the battery.
What's the problem?

I'd start with hooking the fan back up like factory, then go-to the fan relay in the under hood fuse box, pull the relay out, and jump the two terminals inside the panel to see if the fan comes on, usually terminals 30 and 87 (should be labeled on relay). If the fan comes on then you know your circuit is good from relay to fan. Lmk what you find, some of those dodges have a small box down on the radiator support, it's what controls the fan
