I just went to get my car diagnosed and the guy said he can't because the "service engine" light wasn't on. So I don't know what to do now and I can't keep calling out from work every morning. I checked all the wires and they seem to be fine.

You need to find a new mechanic, some newer mechanics just check for codes and don't have the knowledge. You need someone with some knowledge on troubleshooting the issue/problems. Talk to friends and family on who they take their vehicles too.
