Could bad workmanship on a transmission install cause problem with CV axels?

Asked by Guru99RSQ3 Oct 16, 2020 at 02:44 PM about the 2012 Nissan Versa 1.6 SV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had my transmission replaced about 8
weeks ago, and for the first few weeks it ran
great. I the garage said I really needed new
tires so I got those replaced 3 weeks ago. For
the last week the car was handling weird so I
brought it in to a different garage for an
alignment. The second garage stated they
could not do the alignment because the CV
axels into the transmission were shot and one
of the engine mounts collapsed. Could this
have been caused by the transmission
change? I would of thought if there were these
issues it would have been seen and brought
to my attention when the transmission was
changed.

Look up the reviews for that shop and see if there's an epidemic of others with the same experience. It is possible they damaged the motor mount and CV axle but at the same time it could also be aged parts that's beginning to malfunction.
