2012 Subaru Impreza - is it worth buying.

Asked by Jul 09, 2016 at 05:36 PM about the 2012 Subaru Impreza 2.0i

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

So I've been looking at this Subaru for the past
week and decided to talk to someone at the dealer,
the car has 53k miles and they're asking 12k for it.
Turns out it had an oil consumption issue and the
entire engine was replaced. Do you guys think this
would be a good car to buy or sould I pass and
keep searching? Thank you!

Keep searching. Had a 2013 Impreza and even with the engine replaced it lost way too much oil. Sold it with 42K on it for 13,500 to a mechanic. The new ones or the older ones probably are better bets; stay clear of 11-14 for sure ...unless you don't mind carrying synthetic 0-20 oil around with you. Good luck. Rick
