Check your local title bureau web site it will tell you the process to get a salvage title vehicle inspected and title transferred. For my state (OH) you have to have a state police inspection (which can take a while to get scheduled), then you take that inspection report with you to the title bureau to get new title. That's it. You may pay a little more in insurance as well, since the title is branded as salvage. Not all "salvage" titles are bad, vehicles sold at police auctions are often branded salvage because they were forfeited to police or abandoned. Some however are branded "salvage" due to damage and were written off as a total loss by an insurance carrier. So they can be 'good' buy or 'bad' buys, really depends on how they got their salvage status, but no matter what, they will be branded salvage for the rest of their life. It will always be a hassle to transfer their titles, and will always cost a little more to insure, even if they were never wrecked.
