01 jeep grand cherokee Laredo limited anti theft cranks but wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So i left my jeep set for a month or maybe a little
longer. I was actually going to sell it and when the
guy came to look at it it wouldnt start just
cranking. All of the electrical works (windows, locks
, lights ect) but the gas gauge isnt registering
(moving when the key is turned) and the anti theft
(key with circle and cross through it) is lit up. Can
anyone tell me what i can do to fix or bypass this
to get it running?

This worked on my old Jeep, manually lock all the doors except the drivers door, with key in hand close and lock the drivers door with the key, watch the dome light and when it goes out wait at least one minute, then using the key unlock the drivers door then attempt to start. If it doesn't start try the same routine with another key. If that doesn't work then it will need to be towed to a dealer and have the system checked out, could be a programming error in the BCM. Fuel gauge could be a BCM problem but usually that effects all the gauges not just one, maybe some syphoned out all the fuel or put a hole in the tank and stole it all.
