2000 jetta cranks for 3 seconds and shuts off

Asked by Oct 07, 2012 at 06:27 PM about the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8T Turbo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

while running for the 3 seconds, the tach does not move. thought that was a bad crank sensor. replaced with new one and made no change. batteries were dead in remote. replaced those, reprogrammed remote, activated alarm, then de-activated. still no change. codes are p1780, p1855, p0724. any clues?

1 Answer

Its not the sensor itself, there is a short somewhere between the sensor and the computer.
