If the 2005 Dodge Durango needs a tune up
will it make it cut off

It could be but it might also need a fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank next time you fill up or it could be that the battery is going bad, have it load tested and clean the connectors on it and check if the alternator is giving out over 14 volts like it should.
