Starts then dies

Asked by Mar 15, 2017 at 06:00 PM about the 2005 Dodge Dakota 2 Dr SLT 4WD Club Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It stalled in traffic but started right back up and stalls 5seconds later.  I got
code P0508 for IAC Low Circiut.  I replaced IAC valve and battery.  Still the
same.

It starts up everytime but stalls unless I pump the throttle.  It I hold the
throttle open a little it will idel fine but when I release the throttle pedal it
stalls immediately.  I cleared the code but it keeps coming back.  Please
help.  Could it be TPS?  That was my next part to try.

Disconnect the electrical connector at the PCM and check for continuity going to the IAC connector. Next check for voltage right at the PCM IAC terminal. If you don’t see voltage, replace the PCM. A shorted IAC can damage the drivers in the PCM and that can also set a P0508 IAC valve sense circuit low trouble code. Reconnect the connector and check for a short to ground condition between the IAC wires.
