Why won't my key open my door?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My actual key will not unlock my door or
my trunk.  It did until a week ago.  How can
I fix that?

Could be the door lock cylinder has broken or become "unhooked" but for the trunk to happen at the same time? seem like the KEY must be very worn is it hanging on a large "ball" of keys? this destroys them.

Thank you for your response! I have only had the car for about six months so I can't say about the key before I've had it. There are about three others keys on my ring. My husband's key stopped working a few days before mine. He has about six keys on his ring.

Ok, Most likely,The door lock module part number for the is: 3B1-837-015-J. BUT have a VW, EXPERT check it for you. Regards
