My battery is less then a year old. It won't hold a charge so have to use jumper cables to start my car. what could be causing this?

It sounds like you altanator is no good !

Have the battery tested at your local auto parts store first before replacing parts. Then check if you have 14V at the battery with the engine running to verify the alternator is working properly. If all is good you have a parasitic draw you need to address.
