Performance Indicator for 2012 Jaguar XJ Supercharged

Asked by MattySchnides Jul 09, 2020 at 08:45 PM about the 2012 Jaguar XJ-Series XJ Supercharged RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving through a residential
neighborhood today going only 35 mph when
the car started shaking and eventually stalled.
The restricted performance light came on.  I
pulled over and turned off the car and tried to
restart the car.  It started up again but even in
park The car is shaking and sputtering.  Has
this ever happened to anyone?  What was the
issue and how much is the estimated cost to
repair this issue?

I would say maybe a bad gas filter, or worse, bad fuel. I work in the gas industry and pull out of refineries. Every now and then there is a slim chance to get a bad gas, or even water in diesel. It's going to happen. Drain out your tank and start over.. that's a shop job, though. Do the easy part first and change the filter. I don't think the fuel relay had anything to do with this BUT while you are on the project, change it. Buy a new one ( even though I would get one out of junk yard for $2 ). But that's me I trust old relays!! unfortunately, since Jag got bought out, it's the last car I would trust anywhere. Sorry, just being nice about it.
