Wobble at 60mph
My 96 chrysler sebring lxi starts to wobble and the stearing wheel goes back and forth when i get to 60 mph what could this be?
I'm not a mechanic but my truck does that. I was told it's probably an issue with one of my tires. Broken belt, etc. Make sure all your tires have a little extra air in them. Just a thought. :-)
Could be a quick fix at the tire shop, get your front tires balanced
worst case scenario, get your front and back tires trimmed. (Aligned)
Sounds like it can be a wheel bearing too. I've had them do that. If you take it by a shop they can tell you what it is and then you can go buy the part. They aren't really hard to change.
Could be a number of things. If the wobble gets worse the faster you go look for out of balanced tires. If the wobble intensity changes while maintaining set speed look for steering linkages ie., tie rod ends, pitman arm etc. If there is a howl that changes as you move steering wheel look for bad wheel bearings. If the steering wheel wobbles back and forth look for worn rod ends or possibly separated belts in tire. Remember you could have more than one issue. I would start by balancing tires and
