Hyundai Elantra loss of power while driving.

Question type: General

I will be driving down the road when all of the following happens: gas pedal
stops responding, tach drops to 0, car maintains at about 25MPH with no
throttle fluxuation, check engine light blinks on a few times but does not stay
lit. I have to turn the car off completely. When i start it back up, all symptoms
appear to have disappeared. Has happened four times in the last 10 days.
No frequency of occurance and no check engine light so i fear that a
mechanic won't be able to replicate the problem or find an easy answer
without $$$$ of diagnostic tests.

Throttle position sensor which is integrated w cableless throttle control its a fail safe so the car doesnt go runaway on you

Thanks for the response. I bought a Throttle position sensor thinking that would be an easy fix I could knock out in 20 minutes. I could not find the sensor on the car to save my life. So, I found a service manual online and it inferred that the TPS is integrated into the ETC module which is a non removable part of the throttle body. Now I need to buy an entire throttle body unit. Guess i should look at the actual part on the car before trusting amazon to have the description correct.
