My 2012 Durango died. We replaced the alternator and battery. Still won't run. Cranks up then dies shortly after. Interior lights and radio work. Back up camera says it needs service. What else do we check?
If you just pulled the battery out with out using the saver tool then you have messed up the BCM, so the only place that can fix the programming is the dealer, it runs about a hundred bucks. The security system has also been engaged, you can try the shut down procedure listed in the owners manual but with the BCM problems it may not work.
What is a saver tool? I looked for the shut down procedure but can't find it. What section would it be in? Not sure what BCM stands for here! Sorry I'm not that great with vehicles but can be told what to do on one and never forget or watch and learn!
BCM body control module, it controls all of the vehicles accessories. The shut down procedure should be listed in the security section. See pic for saver tool. I have a fancier model that plugs right into the OBD2 port, but for the novice or a newbie mechanic this one will work.
