Truck engine won't turn over when starting
My 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 engine will not turn over when I start it. I
can hear the starter making a winding sound when I turn the key but
the engine won't crank. The battery and starter have been tested
and are good. Has anyone experienced this? Just need to know
what the issue is before I pay a fortune to repair it.
So if the starter tested good and the drive is working the the most likely cause is some of the teeth are gone, or the ring gear or flex plate has broke. Ring gear is for a manual trans, flex plate is for automatic trans.
Thanks for the info. The machanic working on it said it look like the engine seized up. If that's the case this will be a very expensive repair.
So if the engine has seized then it has already broke the drive on the starter, that should have been caught when it was tested, so if you do decide to fix it that will be another expense.
