Hopefully this will help anyone with the problem of overheating, and low coolant in your older 300m. I'm not saying that your head gasket is bad or that your thermostat doesn't need changing, but there is another issue that you should look at first. When I purchased my 2002 chrysler 300m special it was both over heating and loosing coolant. I changed radiator, thermostat, and cracked hoses. I finally found, while changing the hoses, that the two plastic stems on the side of your coolant reservoir that have copper inserts in them were both cracked and had even been repaired or glued, one by me. I purchased a brand new reservoir for $26.00 and that was two years ago. I have never had another overheating or coolant loss problem. I hope this helps someone experiencing this problem.
